Udham Singh’s revolver which was used to avenge Jallianwala Bagh Massacre may never return to India

New Delhi: Freedom fighter Udham Singh's revolver, which was used to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in 1919, may never return to India.

According to a Times of India report, Udham Singh's revolver is still in custody of Metropolitan Police, UK. 

The United Kingdom had declined to return the belongings of the martyr to Punjab government.

Replying to the RTI activist Jatinder Jain on September 26, 2016, the Europe west division of the MEA said a communication from the Government of UK had made it clear that Udham Singh's belongings were in the possession of Metropolitan Police, London.

On March 13, 1940, Udham Singh had killed Michael O' Dwyer - during whose tenure as the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab the Jallianawala Bagh Massacre took place - with the said revolver at Caxton Hall, London. 

He was hanged on July 31, 1940, at Pentonville prison for the assassination.

Every year on Udham Singh's death anniversary, authorities make promises to get back the belongings of Udham Singh from the UK. 

Udham Singh was born in Sunam town, Punjab, on December 26, 1899.

Interestingly, revolutionary Bhagat Singh's pistol has reached Hussainiwala border museum in Ferozepur.

आखिर H-1B पर मशक्कत क्यों?
- दरअसल, अमेरिका में बढ़ती बेरोजगारी को दूर करने के लिए H-1B के रूल्स को सख्त बनाने की बात कही जाती रही है। 
- आरोप है कि कई कंपनियां दूसरे देशों से कम सैलरी पर वर्कर अमेरिका लाती हैं। इससे अमेरिकियों को नौकरी मिलने के मौके कम हो जाते हैं और बेरोजगारी बढ़ती है।
- ट्रम्प एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन के एक अफसर ने कहा- हमारे देश में भी क्वॉलिफाइड प्रोफेशनल्स हैं, जो कंपनियों की जरूरत पूरी कर सकते हैं। 
- बता दें कि कुछ दिनों पहले ही ट्रम्प एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन ने एक पॉलिसी मेमोरेंडम जारी किया था। इसमें कहा गया था कि कम्प्‍यूटर प्रोग्रामर्स H-1B वीजा के लिए एलिजिबल नहीं होंगे।
क्या है H-1B वीजा?
- H-1B वीजा एक नॉन-इमिग्रेंट वीजा है।
- इसके तहत अमेरिकी कंपनियां विदेशी थ्योरिटिकल या टेक्निकल एक्सपर्ट्स को अपने यहां रख सकती हैं।
- H-1B वीजा के तहत टेक्नोलॉजी कंपनियां हर साल हजारों इम्प्लॉइज की भर्ती करती हैं।
- USCIS जनरल कैटेगरी में 65 हजार फॉरेन इम्प्लॉइज और हायर एजुकेशन (मास्टर्स डिग्री या उससे ज्यादा) के लिए 20 हजार स्टूडेंट्स को एच-1बी वीजा जारी करता है।
- अप्रैल 2017 में यूएस सिटिजनशिप एंड इमिग्रेशन सर्विसेज (USCIS) ने 1 लाख 99 हजार H-1B पिटीशन रिसीव कीं।
- अमेरिका ने 2015 में 1 लाख 72 हजार 748 वीजा जारी किए, यानी 103% ज्यादा। ये स्टूडेंट्स यूएस के किसी संस्थान में पढ़े हुए होने चाहिए। इनके सब्जेक्ट साइंस, इंजीनियरिंग, टेक्नोलॉजी और मैथ्स होने चाहिए।
- बता दें कि पिछले महीने यूएस कोर्ट ने 2 भारतीयों को एच-1बी वीजा धोखाधड़ी का आरोपी पाया था। अगर दोनों पर दोष साबित हुआ तो उन्हें 20 साल जेल या 1.6 करोड़ रुपए जुर्माना या फिर दोनों सजा हो सकती है।
फीस पहले ही बढ़ा चुका है अमेरिका
- अमेरिका जनवरी 2016 में एच-1बी और एल-1 वीजा फीस बढ़ा चुका है। एच-1बी के लिए यह 2000 डॉलर से बढ़ाकर 6000 डॉलर और एल-1 के लिए 4500 डॉलर किया गया है।
- यह नियम उन कंपनियों के लिए हैं, जिनके यूएस में 50 या इससे ज्‍यादा इम्‍प्‍लॉई हैं और इनमें से 50 फीसदी से ज्‍यादा एच-बी या एल-1 वीजा पर जॉब कर रहे हैं।

Chennai-based SRM University to open AP campus in Amaravati

Amaravati: Chennai-based SRM University is opening its AP campus in the state's new capital Amaravati on July 15.

SRM University will kickstart its operations with an intake of 300 students this year in different engineering streams, according to its president P Satyanarayanan.

The state government allotted 200 acres of land for the university in the capital region and SRM would invest Rs 3,000 crore over the next decade to take the total student intake to 40,000, he said.

"In phase-one, we will invest Rs 1,000 crore in the next five years for a student intake of 10,000. Besides engineering, liberal arts, journalism, management and law school will also be opened. We are also building a hospital now as a precursor to opening a medical college in the second phase," Satyanarayanan added.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the campus along with Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on July 15.

जेएनएन, चंडीगढ़। हाईकोर्ट के आदेश पर हटाए गए चारों मुख्य संसदीय सचिवों की मुश्किलें बढ़ सकती हैैं। आम आदमी पार्टी ने चारों विधायकों को लाभ के पद पर तैनात किए जाने को आधार बनाते हुए चुनाव आयोग और राष्ट्रपति को पत्र लिखकर उनकी विधानसभा से सदस्यता रद करने की मांग की है। पार्टी ने कहा है कि 10 दिन में कोई कार्रवाई नहीं होने पर वह हाई कोर्ट जाएगी।
पार्टी प्रदेश अध्यक्ष नवीन जयहिंद ने चुनाव आयोग और राष्ट्रपति को लिखे पत्रों का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि मुख्य संसदीय सचिवों को हर महीने 37 हजार रुपये का अतिरिक्त भुगतान किया गया। मुख्यमंत्री ने पौने दो करोड़ रुपये की स्वैच्छिक ग्रांट जारी की, जबकि विधायकों के लिए ऐसी किसी ग्रांट का प्रावधान नहीं है।
इन विधायकों से मांगा जा रहा इस्तीफा
हाईकोर्ट के आदेश के बाद असंध के विधायक बख्शीश सिंह विर्क, रादौर के विधायक श्याम सिंह राणा, बडख़ल की विधायक सीमा त्रिखा और हिसार के विधायक डॉ. कमल गुप्ता सीपीएस पद से इस्तीफे दे चुके हैैं।
सदस्यता बचाने के लिए ही सुप्रीम कोर्ट नहीं गई सरकार
नवीन जयहिंद ने कहा कि चारों विधायकों की सदस्यता बचाने के लिए ही सरकार ने हाई कोर्ट के फैसले को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चुनौती नहीं दी। अगर इन विधायकों की सदस्यता खत्म होती है तो भाजपा के 47 विधायकों में से सिर्फ 43 रह जाएंगे और उसे सत्‍ता में बने रहने के लिए निर्दलियों का सहारा लेना पड़ेगा। कांग्रेस और इनेलो सीबीआइ के डर से इस मामले को नहीं उठा रहीं।

Pitching the GST as a measure beneficial for the country at a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior leaders and party MPs, Jaitley said prices of goods has come down between four to eight per cent since its roll-out on July 1.

There was no longer tax on tax and the transport of goods across the country was going unhindered now, he said.

More than one crore firms will be migrating to the new tax regime against around 80 lakh companies earlier, he said, Kumar quoted him as saying.

"Tax net has expanded. The country's market has been integrated. Inspector raj is over. The tax burden on the masses has gone down. It is a win-win situation for all," the finance minister said.

BJP MPs were also asked to attend the Houses regularly.
