Mr Mohiuddin, 70, says his son has not done anything criminal, even if he may have had some thinking on the subject.
"They have flashed his photo and made him out to be a terror suspect. They have ruined his life and our reputation," the distraught father says.
32-year-old Salman, an engineer from Hyderabad, had gone to the US in 2010 to get a MS degree from Houston. He did not get a visa extension in October 2014 and returned to India.
